On distingue ainsi, pour chaque branche extérieure 14a, 14b, un premier tronçon 21 dans le prolongement de l'une des branches de la boucle centrale mais recourbé sensiblement à angle droit à la fois vers le bas et vers l'extérieur. Ce premier tronçon est recourbé à son autre extrémité vers le haut jusqu'à un point 22 plus élevé que le niveau de la boucle centrale. La branche extérieure se prolonge par un second tronçon 23 à la fois vers le bas et en direction de la boucle centrale. Le tronçon d'extrémité libre 24 de la branche extérieure s'achève au voisinage de la boucle centrale, un peu au delà de celle-ci. C'est ce tronçon d'extrémité libre 24 qui est destiné à entrer en contact avec le patin du rail.
