Abstract

The basic frame (2) comprises 4 uprights (3) interconnecting the corresponding corners of top and bottom rectangular frames, each assembled from 4 horizontal pieces (4). All 12 pieces are cut to length from identical hollow metal rail (30) presenting in cross-section a closed isosceles right-angled triangle, having its hypotenuse pressed in to form a shallow U-shaped profile (31), while the 90 deg. apex is slightly truncated. Opt., this cross-section is obtained as an e.g. aluminum extrusion. All the pieces are assembled with the truncated apex facing inwards diagonally into the cabinet, and the U-profile outwards, diagonally, and the main surfaces are regularly perforated to facilitate assembly and to provide support points for internally mounted cables and equipment. At each of the 8 corners the converging members are mutually united in a 3-way junction piece (40) in e.g. cast aluminum. The cladding panels (5,6,7,8) are screwed at intervals along each edge to mounting brackets (20) themselves screwed to the U-profiles. The mounting brackets (20) include hinge supports (26) receiving hinge-pins (92) and brackets (91) which complete the hinges for the front door (9). The door handle (90), on the door's opposite side, operates latches in the frame on that side. The modules can also be combined in sets of two or more to form wider cabinets.
