Abstract

The rectification circuit utilizes a series of three Zener or high voltage diodes (D1 to D3) connected in parallel. Positive and negative terminals are formed across the bridge that supply the rectified current. Diode pairs are connected to the cathodes to the three phase Graetz bridge with a varistor located at the extreme ends of the bridging circuit. Switches are connected in series with the diodes to provide a synchronous mode of operation associated with an AC generator. An Independent claim is included for an alternator utilizing the described circuit.
