Abstract

Combined radio telephones (2) are coupled to the radio base (1) by data connectors (3,25,28,27), while the network contains a telephone (20) of a cordless or mobile cellular telephone network (40). The connectors include a combined radio telephone interface module. This forms a pair with the base by radio connection, for coupling the cordless or cellular telephone to the base. There is an interface unit (4) adapted to convert instructions for the combined radio telephone into instructions for control of a cordless or cellular telephone. Independent claims are included for a battery charger, a combined radio telephone, and a radio base.

LOCAL RADIOTELEPHONY NETWORK, CHARGER OF

  CELLULAR TELEPHONE, HANDSET AND RADIO BASE

FOR THE NETWORK

  The invention relates to a local radiotelephone network comprising a radio base and at least one radio handset connected to the base. The base is connected to a wired telephone network, such as the PSTN network, and communicates with the handset (s) by radio, using communication protocols

io such as that of the DECT standard.

  Such a local radiotelephone network allows its users to make calls while moving around the base. However, the base having to be connected by wired link to the telephone network, the local i5 network can only be used in places equipped with telephone sockets for wired connection to the telephone network. Thus, the user having a local radiotelephony network in his main residence will not be able to carry and use this network in a residence

  vacation, for example, without a telephone jack.

  The present invention aims to overcome this drawback.

  To this end, the invention relates to a local radiotelephone network comprising a radio base and at least one radio handset connected to the base, characterized in that it comprises means of connection between the entire base and the handset radio and a cell phone and radiotelephone interface means between the entire base and the

  radio handset and cell phone.

  At the outset, it will be noted that by cellular telephone, one intends to designate a telephone of a cellular network in the broad sense of the term, that is to say a network of cellular base stations or else a network of terrestrial satellites. Thanks to the invention, the user of the local network can use it anywhere, or at least in the entire coverage area of the cellular network, by telephoning through this network, using the base and from the handset and through the cell phone. In short, the local network is movable

  and usable throughout the coverage area of the cellular network.

  In a particular embodiment, means are provided

  radiotelephone interface between the cell phone and the base.

  In another embodiment, the network comprising a plurality of radio handsets, radiotelephone interface means are provided between

  the cell phone and one of the radio handsets.

  Thanks to this, in the case where the base is connected to a telephone network other than the cellular network, for example the PSTN network, and not only allows external communications through the other telephone network but also internal communications between the at least two handsets, a first handset A can communicate through the cellular network, via the base and another handset B connected to the cellular telephone, the handsets A and B being in internal communication, and, simultaneously, a second handset C can communicate

  with a correspondent external to the local network, through the PSTN network.

  Advantageously, the radiotelephone interface means are external to

  the entire base and radio handset and cell phone.

  Preferably, since the cellular telephone can be connected to a battery charger, the radiotelephone interface means are integrated into

said charger.

  The invention also relates to a battery charger for a cellular telephone, for the local radio telephone network above, comprising first means of connection to the cellular telephone, second means of connection to the whole of a radio base and of at least one radio handset from the network, the first connection means being connected to the second connection means, and radiotelephone interface means between the

  cell phone and the entire base and radio handset.

  The invention further relates to a radio handset for the above local radio network to a radio base and a plurality of handsets.

  The invention will be better understood using the following description of two

  particular embodiments of the local radiotelephone network of the invention, with reference to the appended drawing in which: - Figure i represents a diagram of the network, according to one of the embodiments, and - Figure 2 represents a diagram of the network, according to the other embodiment. The local radiotelephony network represented in FIG. 1 comprises a radio base 1 and a plurality of radio telephone handsets 2, here six in number, connected to base 1 by radio link and intended to communicate with it using a communication protocol. communication from

  wireless telephony, in this case the DECT protocol.

  Base 1 includes a wired connection line interface to a network

  telephone line 10, in this case the PSTN switched telephone network.

  Via base 1, handsets 2 can communicate through the PSTN 10 telephone network (external communication) and between

them (internal communication).

  The base 1 further comprises a connector 3 for connection, here wired, with a battery charger 23 of a cellular telephone 20 of a cellular network

, here GSM.

  Handsets 2 include a telephone dial pad with

  a GSM key to call through the GSM 40 network.

  For the sake of clarity, only the elements of the GSM telephone 20 and its charger 23, necessary for understanding the invention, will

now be described.

  The cellular telephone 20 is intended to communicate through the GSM network 40, using the GSM communication protocol. It includes a battery, not shown, charging contact pads 21 and a service socket 22, here male, for external connection and for information transmission. The battery charger 23 includes a housing 24 for receiving the telephone 20, charging contact pads 26, intended to be

  connected to those 21 of the telephone 20, a female socket 27 for connection to the male service socket 22 of the telephone 20 and for transmission

  information, as well as a connector 25 for wire connection with the base 1.

  The socket 27 for connection to the telephone 20 and the connector 25 for connection to the base 1 are connected to each other by means of a block 28 of radiotelephone interface between the base 1 and the cellular telephone 20, integrated in the charger 23 and therefore external to the assembly of the base 1 and

handsets 2 and telephone 20.

  By "radiotelephone interface" is intended to denote an interface between two different radiotelephone infrastructures, namely the whole of base 1 and radio handsets 2 and the set of GSM telephone 1 and GSM network 40, distinguishing one on the other here by different i5 communication protocols and different operational radio frequencies. The interface block 28 comprises a communication module between the radio base 1 and the cellular telephone 20, intended to transmit information between the base 1 and the telephone 20. This information includes information, in particular voice, transmitted between the handsets 2 and a correspondent external to the local network, in communication with each other through the GSM 40 network, as well as telephone commands (telephone dialing command,

  telephone answer, telephone ringing command, etc.).

  The base 1 is connected to the charger 23, by means of the connectors 3 and 25 connected to each other by a flaire link 4. This base link 1 charger 23 allows the base 1 to be connected to the telephone 20 when the latter is in its charger 23. Such a link between the base 1 and the telephone 20 is intended to transmit the voice information transmitted between one of the handsets 2 and an external correspondent, in communication with each other through cellular network 40, as well as telephone commands

  between the handset considered 2 and a correspondent external to the local network.

  After the structural description of the local radiotelephone network, its

  operation during a communication between one of the handsets 2 and an external correspondent on the local network 2, through the GSM 40 network, will

now be described.

  In order to recharge the GSM telephone 20, a user places it in the charger 23, thereby connecting, on the one hand, the charging contact pads 21 and 26 to one another and, on the other hand, and the male sockets 22 and female 27 between them. The DECT base 1 is then connected to the GSM network 40 via the charger 23 and the telephone 20. In the event of an incoming call on the GSM telephone 20, that is to say intended for the telephone call number of this one, the call is transmitted from the GSM telephone 20 to the DECT base 1, by means of the radiotelephone interface block 28, via the sockets 22 and 27 and the connectors 3 and 25. The base 1 then rings the handsets 2 and, when one of them picks up, it signals it to the telephone 20, by means of the radiotelephone interface block 28. Under the control thereof, the telephone 20 picks up, in order to establish a communication between caller and handset 2

  i5 having picked up, through the GSM 40 network.

  In order to call a correspondent using one of the handsets 2, through the GSM network 40, the user dials the correspondent's telephone number on the keyboard of the handset 2 and presses the GSM key. The handset 2 sends the telephone number to the base 1 which transmits it to the telephone 20 via the radiotelephone interface block 28. Under the control thereof, the telephone 20 then calls the correspondent by dialing his number call, in order to establish voice communication between the handset considered 2 and the

correspondent called.

  During a communication between a handset 2 and a correspondent external to the local network, through the GSM 40 network, the information, in particular voice, transmitted between the correspondent and the handset 2, pass through the

  base 1, the radiotelephone interface block 28 and the telephone 20.

  Another embodiment of the local network does not differ from the description

  which precedes only by what will now be described.

  The local radiotelephone network comprises the radio base 1, here five radio telephone handsets 2 and a radio telephone handset 5 of

  cell phone connection 20.

  The handset 5 includes a connector 6 for connection to a charger 30 of

phone battery 20.

  The charger 30 comprising a housing 31 for receiving the telephone 20, a connector 32 for wired connection to the handset 5, charging contact pads 33, intended to be connected to those 21 of the telephone 20 for charging the battery, a socket female 34, connecting to the male socket 22 of the telephone 20 and transmitting information. The connection socket 22 is connected to the connector 32 by means of a radiotelephone interface block 35 between the radio handset 5 and the cellular telephone 20, integrated in the charger 30 and therefore external to

  io the whole of base 1 and handsets 2, 5 and telephone 20.

  The radiotelephone interface block 35 includes a communication module between the radio handset 5 and the cell phone 20, intended to transmit information, between the handset 5 and the i5 phone 20. This information includes information, in particular voice, transmitted between one of the handsets 2 and a correspondent external to the local network, in communication with each other through the GSM 40 network, as well as telephone commands (telephone dialing command, telephone answer command, ringing command

telephone, etc.).

  The handset 5 is connected to the charger 30, via connectors 6 and 32

  connected to each other by a wire link 7. This combined link 5 -

  charger 30 allows the handset 5 to be connected to the telephone 20 when the latter

  this is in its charger 30. The base 1 is thus connected to the telephone 20, by means of the handset 5. Such a connection between the base 1, the handset 5 and the telephone 20 is intended to transmit information, in particular voice , between one of the handsets 2 and a correspondent external to the local network, in communication with each other through the GSM 40 network, as well as telephone commands, by establishing internal communication on the local network between the handset 2 considered and handset 5. It will be emphasized here that when one of the handsets 2 is in communication with an external correspondent on the local network, through the GSM network 40, by means of internal communication with the handset 5, another handset 2 can simultaneously communicate with another correspondent

  external to the local network, through the wired telephone network 10.

  After the structural description of the local radiotelephone network, its

  operation when one of the handsets 2 communicates with a

  external correspondent on the local network, through the GSM 40 network, will

now be described.

  In order to recharge the GSM telephone 20, its user places it in the charger, thus connecting, on the one hand, the charging contact pads 21, 33 to each other, and, on the other hand, the male 22 and female 34 sockets , between them. In the event of an incoming call on the cellular telephone 20, that is to say intended for the telephone number thereof, the call is transmitted from the telephone to the handset 5, by means of the block of radiotelephone interface 35, via connection sockets 22 and 31 and connectors 32 and 6. The handset 5 retransmits the call to base 1 which rings the handsets 2. When one of the handsets 2 picks up, the base 1 establishes an internal communication between i5 this handset 2 and the handset 5, thus signaling the off-hook to the handset 5. The handset 5 signals the off-hook to the telephone 20, by the

  through the radiotelephone interface block 35. Under the control thereof

  ci, the telephone 20 picks up, in order to establish a communication between the handset 2 which has picked up and the caller external to the local network, through the GSM network 40, by means of an internal communication to the local network

between handsets 2 and 5.

  In order to call a correspondent using one of the handsets 2, through the GSM network 40, the user dials the correspondent's telephone number on the keyboard of the handset 2 and presses the GSM key. The handset 2 sends the telephone number to base 1 which establishes internal communication between the handset 2 concerned and the handset 5 and transmits to the handset 5 the telephone number of the called party. The handset 5 retransmits this number to the telephone 20, by means of the radiotelephone interface block 35. Under the control thereof, the telephone 20 then calls the correspondent by dialing his telephone number, in order to establish a communication between handset 2

  and the correspondent called, through the GSM 40 network.

  During a communication between one of the handsets 2 and an external correspondent on the local network, through the GSM network 40, the handset 2 considered and the handset 5 communicate with each other, in internal communication, by the intermediary of the base 1. The information, in particular voice, transmitted between the handset 2 and the external correspondent, transit via the

  base 1, the handset 5, the radiotelephone interface block 35 and the

phone 20.

  During a communication between a first handset 2 and a first external correspondent, via the GSM network, a second handset 2 can simultaneously make or receive a telephone call and communicate through the wired telephone network 10 with a second correspondent external to the network local, via the base 1. The base 1 simultaneously manages the internal communication between the first handset o10 2 and the handset 5, allowing the first handset 2 to communicate externally with the first external correspondent, through the GSM 40 network, as well as the external communication of the second handset 2 with the second external correspondent, through the telephone network

  We could consider removing the connection socket and transmission of information from the cell phone's battery charger and passing voice and command information

  A communication between one of the telephone handsets 2 and an external correspondent would also be possible in the case where the telephone is not being loaded during the communication, insofar as an information transmission link is established between the telephone 20 and the entire radio base and radio telephone handsets.

  In the description which has just been made, the battery charger of the

  cell phone is connected to the entire base and radio handsets (either to base 1 or to handset 5, depending on the embodiment considered of the invention) by wire connection. We could replace this wired link

  by any other type of link, in particular by radio link.

  Finally, one could consider integrating the radiotelephone interface block in the base or the handset for connection to the cellular telephone, or else in the cellular telephone. In this case, we could directly connect the

  cell phone at base or handset.

Claims (9)

  1- Local radiotelephony network comprising a radio base (1) and at least one radio handset (2; 2, 5) connected to the base (1), characterized in that it comprises means (3, 4, 25 , 27, 22; 6, 7, 32, 34, 22) of connection between the entire base (1) and the radio handset (2; 2, 5) and a cell phone (20) and means (28 ; 35) radiotelephone interface between the entire base (1) and the radio handset (2; 2, 5) and the telephone o10 cell (20).   2- Network according to claim 1, wherein there is provided means (28) for radiotelephone interface between the cellular telephone (20) and the base (1).   3- Network according to one of claims 1 and 2, wherein, the network   comprising a plurality of radio handsets (2, 5), there are provided means (35) for radiotelephone interface between the cellular telephone (20) and one radio handsets (2).   4- Network according to one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the means (28;   ) of radiotelephone interface are external to the whole base (1)   and the radio handset (2; 2, 5) and the cell phone (20).   5- Network according to one of claims 1 to 4, in which the telephone   cell (20) can be connected to a battery charger (23, 30), the means (28; 35) of radiotelephone interface are integrated in said charger (23, 30).   6- Cell phone battery charger (20) for the local radio telephone network of claim 1, comprising first means (27; 34) for connection to the cell phone (20), second means (25, 32) for connection to the whole of a radio base (1) and at least one radio handset (2; 2, 5) of the network, the first connection means (27; 34) being connected to the second connection means (25 ; 32), and means (38; 35) of radiotelephone interface between the cellular telephone (20) and the assembly   the base (1) and the radio handset (2; 2, 5).   LO 2788923 7.
