Abstract

The mechanical device for the orientation of the electromagnetic waves from a portable telephone handset comprises a movable flap (3) mounted on top of the telephone. This flap contains a reflector surface which fits behind the telephone aerial in order to reflect transmitted waves outwards away from the user's ear and head. The screen serves a dual purpose in that it also increase the sensitivity of the telephone to incoming signals, focussing such signals on to the aerial. The flap may be mounted on the telephone in such a way that it can slide between a retracted position where it lies close to the main body of the telephone, and an extended position in which it offers protection and serves as a reflector.

Description

The present invention relates to a mechanical device for orienting the electromagnetic waves emitted by a mobile telephone.
Conventional mobile phones, Figure 1, have a transmitting antenna (2) fixed to the body (1) emitting waves in all directions and particularly towards the user's brain with a possibility of harmful action on health. prostheses such as cardiac simulators can be affected in their functioning
One solution consists of integrating the antenna into the box and placing a shield on the user side, however the screen thus produced is reduced due to the extensive miniaturization of this type of device.
The device according to the invention makes it possible to remedy this defect by providing a mobile screen (3) between the antenna and the user. This screen offers a large reflective surface and can be shaped to improve the reception and emission of electromagnetic waves. Figure 2
In the first case the sensitivity is improved and in the second case the increased range, the reduced consumption
The reflector device can between produced by superplastic forming of a metal such as titanium or by metallization of a plastic part. This metallization can be obtained by shooping, chemical deposition or conductive paint.

According to a preferred embodiment, in FIG. 3, the reflective screen (3) is movable in translation and serves to protect the screen in the closed position. A slide (5) guides the mobile part and a lateral button (4) facilitates movement, the antenna (2) is also controlled in translation
The sliding part (3) may include an earpiece (11) thus facilitating the use of the device
The antenna (2) usually placed on the right side must between placed in a central position to radiate in a ho morene way
According to another preferred embodiment, FIG. 4, the screen (3) is articulated at (6) on the body (1)
The screen is realistic in two parts, half of which is on the body and in the closed position the assembly is protected against external aggressions
The set is compact and ergonomic
According to a preferred embodiment, the antenna (2) is coaxial with the articulation (6), therefore compact in the closed position. The flap (3) has an earpiece (7) on the back to make everything more ergonomic
According to another embodiment, the articulated flap (3)
has a concentric reflecting surface and the antenna (2) is fixed to the center of symmetry thereof, Figure 5
The other face of the flap (3) includes an earpiece; thanks to this constructive arrangement the screen (8) is protected in the closed position
The antenna supply must be ensured by an armored doctor
The device according to the invention is particularly intended for the industrial manufacture of mobile telephones taking into account the imperatives of protection against electromagnetic waves in intensive use. The concept also improves transmission and reception performance
