Abstract

The garage has a floor (6), a ceiling, side walls (8-10) and a door. It has a movable structure (12) which fits inside the existing garage. The movable structure has mobile walls (13), a mobile roof which extends the ceiling (7) an automatic or manual garage door (16) in the mobile structure which operates as door to the small garage or the extended garage. There is a track (22) which the extension slides along and a lock to hold the structure in its normal or extended position. The mobile roof (14) is sloped and there are air and watertight seals at the base of each side wall.

Description

 The present invention relates to a telescopic extendable garage, intended to increase the surface or the volume of an existing fixed garage.

 The invention will find its application in the field of construction of buildings or houses including in particular garages. It can also be implemented by manufacturers or installers of garage doors.

 The invention can also be applied to other types of rooms in a house or industrial or commercial installations whose surface or volume is to be increased to temporarily enlarge it or in a more definitive manner.

 Today we build in homes or buildings a structural work according to the plan of the architect which includes, according to the wishes of the user, a room called garage reserved for parking one or more cars.

 Generally speaking, these garages are completely integrated into the house. The volume of the garage is delimited by its ceiling, its side walls generally three in number and the ground or floor on which the car drives. The garage, which often has a parallelepiped shape, also has a front door on a side wall.

 The entry of vehicles or people is authorized by a hinged or tilting door. These doors generally include a movable opening, swinging or tilting, and a fixed frame formed by a metal frame sealed in the shell.

 The presence of these seals shows that the garage doors currently known are generally fixed doors, that is to say that they were designed to open the volume of the garage and allow the entry of the car. Under these conditions, the garages produced today have a surface determined by the user, called normal surface on which one or more vehicles can be parked.

 When the vehicle or vehicles are stored in the garage, the user closes the door to make their vehicle inaccessible from outside the house.

 The garage area is generally designed for medium-sized cars. However, it may be that when the user decides to change vehicles to take a larger car, it becomes annoying to first enter the garage but also often to close the door.

 In other homes, users may wish to park a large car and a smaller one, that is, transforming a garage designed for one car into a garage for two cars.

 Existing garages have the disadvantage of having a door in a fixed frame which requires, during construction, to achieve a normal surface and volume which can no longer be modified or adapted to the uses.

 The telescopic garage according to the invention aims to remedy these drawbacks and for this purpose, one of its first goals is to increase the area or the volume of the initial garage at will.

 Another object of the telescopic garage according to the invention is to be able to adapt to a large majority of the garages of existing houses, built for several years.

 Another advantage of the telescopic garage according to the invention is to increase the volume of the room by a simple device using a single door for the garage in the open or closed position.

 Another object of the telescopic garage according to the invention is to increase the surface of the garage in the direction of the depth by taking the necessary additional surface on the garden. We will naturally take care not to make this extension by encroaching on the public highway.

 Another advantage of the telescopic garage according to the invention is to provide a mobile structure that fits well into the existing garage and allows for improved aesthetics.

 Another object of the telescopic garage according to the invention is to provide on the added roof a slope with water drainage.

 Another advantage of the telescopic garage according to the invention is to produce an air and water tight device at the base of the movable side walls.

 Another object of the telescopic garage according to the invention is to allow easy opening of the door in the small volume or large volume position.

 Another advantage of the telescopic garage according to the invention is that its telescopic device is compact, which makes it possible to increase the volume of existing garages and that this volume is maximally devoted to receiving the car and allowing the movement of users around of the car on the ground.

 Another advantage of the telescopic garage according to the invention is that it can be adapted to narrow doors, for example from 2.2 meters to 3 meters. The endowment used will be compact.

 Another object of the telescopic garage according to the invention is to adapt to all existing swing or tilting doors.

The invention relates to a telescopic extendable garage intended to increase the surface and the volume of an existing room such as a fixed garage, comprising a floor, a ceiling, side walls, a maneuverable, swinging or tilting door, which is characterized by the fact that it comprises a mobile structure which fits into the existing garage, said structure having - mobile side walls complementary to those of the
garage, - a movable roof that extends the ceiling, - a maneuverable garage door fixed to the structure
mobile and able to move from a position
normal small volume to an enlarged position large
volume, - a raceway to facilitate mobile guidance
outside the garage, - means for locking the mobile structure in
normal or enlarged position.

 Reference is made to FIG. 1 which schematically shows a room generally designated by (1) which is delimited by a structural work of a house or of a commercial or industrial installation. The invention can be applied to all kinds of parts (1), whatever its use. The invention was however designed to be applied in a garage of a dwelling house delimited by the structural work (2).

 This construction presents a habitable zone (3) located inside the house. The main structure (2) leads to an external part (4). We schematized in (5) the outside area of the house which is for example the garden or a part of the passable ground covered with gravel or tiles.

 The room (1) is here for example the fixed garage existing in the house at the time of its construction and delimited by a floor (6), a ceiling (7) and side walls (8, 9, 10). The wall (10) constitutes in Figure 1 the bottom of the garage.

Thus, a vehicle coming from the external zone (5) can enter through the door (16) in the direction of the arrow
F1 to be placed inside the garage by rolling on the ground (6) to the bottom (10). According to the design of the main structure (2), originally the part (1) used as a garage has determined dimensions and in particular a fixed depth P1.

 If you want to park a larger car or a second car in this garage, you will need a depth P2. It is possible to pass from the depth P1 to the enlarged depth P2 by means of a mobile structure generally designated by (12). This structure fits into the existing garage (1) by moving in the direction of arrow F1.

 The mobile structure (12) comprises mobile side walls (13) complementary to the side walls (8) of the fixed garage. A movable roof (14) extends the ceiling when the structure is pulled outward in the direction of arrow F2. The ceiling and roof can be at the same height or at different heights as shown in Figure 1.

 There is shown in (16) the garage door which can be of any known type and in particular swing or tilting. The door (16) comprises two leaves (17 and 18) articulated at (15) for example by means of hinges on the mobile structure (12). We see in Figure 2 that the door (16) is arranged around the side faces (8 and 9) and the ceiling (7). The door (16) is constituted by the two openings (17 and 18) but also by its frame (19) installed on the wall (11).

 Reference is made to FIG. 3 which shows, from above, the side walls (8 and 9) on which supports (20) have been fixed capable of receiving rollers (21) which are here, in the mode of execution shown, four in number. The rollers are capable of rolling on the movable side walls (13) of the structure (12) when the latter is moved in the direction of the arrows F1 and F2 from a normal position with small volume corresponding to a completely retracted position of the structure ( 12) inside the part (1) to an enlarged volume position corresponding to a structure (12) partially or completely extended. In this position, the door (16) will have a minimum space requirement on the outside.

 To facilitate the movement and the maneuverability of the structure (12) from the normal position (small volume) to the enlarged position, tracks (22) are provided on the floor (6) and possibly in the external part ( 5). On the raceways (22) are guided bearings (23) for example four in number.

 It will thus be easier to pass from a normal small volume position with a depth P1 to an enlarged large volume position with a depth P2. Depending on the size of the mobile structure, we can easily increase the depth of the garage from 1 to 4 meters on average.

 All the intermediate positions may be used if provision is made, for example, for the locking means making it possible to use the mobile structure in the normal or enlarged position of use. We can for example have locking means not shown in the drawings on the ground in the area (5).

 The adaptation of the invention to extendable telescopic garage to all dwellings will be possible and it will naturally be possible to modify the raceways (22) and the bearings (23) but also the rollers (21). Depending on the weight of the structure (12), it will be possible to use a single guide means, roller (21) or bearing (23).

 The garage according to the invention can receive any type of known door such as hinged but also tilting. The doors can also be opened manually or automatically using a remote control.

 The adaptation can be made on existing doors 2 to 3 meters wide. The telescopic device according to the invention has a small footprint, that is to say that when the door (16) is raised, the interior of the garage near the door will have a large available volume.

 The structure (12) will be designed and equipped to be easily used outside and in bad weather.

Thus, provision is made to produce a movable roof (14) sloping from the frame (19) to the outside. We can also equip the interior of the masonry board with high and lateral sealing brushes. Low sealing can be achieved by brushes on the door itself or rubber seals.

 Reference is made to FIG. 4 which shows a variant of the extendable garage according to the invention. The main structure (2) delimits a ceiling (7), a floor (6), side walls (8 and 9).

 The mobile structure (12) is replaced by a set of elements (24 and 25) mounted articulated in (27 and 28) as shown diagrammatically in FIG. 6. In an unfolded position, the elements (24 and 25) in number four allow two side walls (29) and a front wall (30) to be produced. It is this front wall (30) which constitutes the garage door in an enlarged position.

This door has two leaves (25).

 The upper part of the elements (24) comprises a raceway (31) in which engages a rib (32) arranged on the internal face of a roof (33) which is thus mounted to slide.

 The variant described in Figure 6 then allows easy maneuvering to move from a closed position small volume to an open position large volume thanks to the space saving of the surface S.

 In the closed position, the element (24) comes into position (24 ') while the elements (25) come into position (25'). The garage door is then completely folded back inside and the external surface of the elements (24 ') constitutes the external surface of the closed garage door.

 When the elements (24 and 25) are unfolded and the sliding roof (33) covers the elements (24 and 25), we then created an extendable garage by obtaining a surface gain S. The blocking in the small external positions or large can also be achieved by locking means.

 Reference is made to another embodiment of the extendable telescopic garage according to the invention, which could be implemented in certain particular cases, when it is desired, for example, to implement a space-saving solution inside the garage. . In fact, the variant envisaged in FIGS. 7 to 10 has a reduced bulk since the accessories constituting the garage are located only at the level of the ceiling. In this variant, the floor and the side walls of the garage will be left free.

 We refer to Figure 7 which shows a floor (6) and a ceiling (7) and the garage is normally closed by a maneuverable door (34) constituted for example by two leaves (35 and 36). The telescopic extendable garage comprises a structure (37) which slides in the direction of the arrows F. The mobile structure (37) (roof + shutter assembly) moves in a slide (38) which is fixed and arranged inside the garage . These slides (38) allow to maneuver a movable roof which carries the flap (41).

 The mobile structure (37) has on each lateral side of the slides (40) mounted over the entire height of the doors. These slides make it possible to operate a rolling shutter (41), this shutter will be wound in a known manner on a shaft (42) provided with the necessary winding, unwinding and locking devices.

 When the telescopic extendable garage is closed, the movable roof (39) which carries the flap (41) will first be moved. This will have obtained a telescopic expandable garage space-saving inside the garage, apart from the presence of the only slides (38) and the roof (39) which carries the flap (41).

 To pass from an open position in FIG. 8 to a closed position in FIG. 10, it is necessary to successively raise the roller shutter (41), retract the movable roof (39) in the slides (38) and close the leaves (35 and 36).

 Figure 10 shows the telescopic extendable garage in the closed position. In this position, the two leaves (35 and 36) of the door are folded down in the direction of the arrow f towards the interior of the garage. Note in Figure 10 that the slides (40) for the shutter are fixed on the inner face of the leaves (35 and 36).

 It can be seen in FIG. 9 that the leaves (35 and 36) in the open position are used to form part of the mobile structure, these door leaves are therefore hinged to the walls (43) by hinges (44).

 Naturally, other implementations of the present invention, within the reach of the Homoe of the Art, could also have been envisaged without departing from the framework thereof.

Extendable telescopic garage intended to increase the surface and the volume of an existing room such as a fixed garage, comprising a floor (6), a ceiling (7), side walls (8, 9, 10), a maneuverable, swinging or tilting door (16), characterized in that it comprises a mobile structure (12) which fits into the existing garage, said structure having - mobile side walls (13) complementary to those  of the garage, - a movable roof (14) which extends the ceiling (7), - a maneuverable door (16) of the garage fixed on the  mobile structure (12) capable of moving from a  normal position small volume to an enlarged position  large volume, - a raceway (22) to facilitate guiding  mobile outside the garage, - means for locking the mobile structure in  normal or enlarged position.  2. Extendable telescopic garage intended to increase the surface and the volume of an existing room such as a fixed garage, according to claim 1, characterized in that it has a movable roof (14) sloping and a device for air and water tightness on the base of each side wall.  3.
