This armchair-table comprises (according to the figures from 1 to 14): a main supporting frame (1) made of square or rectangular steel tubes provided with four wheels (9-32) mounted on a pivoting axis (3600). 32) are provided with a brake actuated by a pedal (22); their axis is fixed on a frame of steel tubes (21) sliding in the bottom crosspieces of the casings (1) for adjusting the optimum spacing; the locking is ensured by a wing screw (31). In the center of the supporting frame (1) is vertically welded a square steel tube (24) in which slides another square steel tube (25) under the action of a hydraulic cylinder (27) actuated by a foot pump (20) attached to a fluid reservoir (30).
Ball bearings (26) fixed on the outer tube (24) at its upper part and on the inner tube (26) at its lower part allow them to slide without significant friction with minimum clearance. fixed to the secondary chassis (2) in square or rectangular steel tubes.
The head (33) of the rod of the jack (38) is fixed on a metal reinforcement plate integral with the secondary chassis (2)
The action of the jack raises or lowers it according to the desired position. In the low position it rests on rubber stops (19) fixed on the supporting frame (l) The maximum high position depends on the stroke of the rod of the cylinder.
The secondary chassis (2) supports by means of two ball slides the mobile chassis (4) made of steel tubes constituting the framework of the convertible faulty system. Each of these slides includes: a main U-shaped steel rail (28) fixed to the movable frame by welding. This rail has ball bearings (36-65) on which slides (about 30 CM) the main rail (29) of the ball slide, and this on each side to allow the lateral offset of the movable chassis (4) which supports the armchair-table. In the main rail (29) of the ball bearing slide the runner (18 on which is fixed the movable chassis (4). Limit stops are provided in all cases. The locking in central position of the movable chassis ( 4) is ensured by a device which can be operated by a lever (I7). The movable frame (4) receives the seat with its cushion (5) in the central part, the backrest which can be folded back consists of a frame of steel tubes (3) its cushion (12) the armrests in steel tubes (10-55) with matching padding (11), the leg rest in steel tube (6) provided with a cushion (7) and a footrest adjustable in height (8) with locking button (64). The mobile chassis (4) is provided with steel pins (48), fixed on the tubes constituting its framework, on which the mobile elements revolve (backrest, armrests, legrests) Self-lubricating plastic sleeves, fixed on the movable elements, ensure precision operation with the axes.
The backrest is locked in the desired position (between the vertical and the horizontal) by a dog clutch (16) comprising a pinion with straight teeth (61), integral with the frame (4) and a sliding dog clutch tooth (60) in a housing (63) fixed on the back frame (3). This tooth is held in contact with the pinion by a spring (62); it is maneuvered by means of a rod (35) provided with a pulling button (34) positioned at the head of the backrest, which also comprises an operating handle (33) constituted by a tube fixed to the frame of the backrest The dog clutch (Fig. 10) is protected by a metal casing (59). The backrest frame (3) also receives the pins (15) constituting the articulation with the two armrests. The horizontal tube ( I0 and the vertical tube (55) of the armrest are connected by means of the articulation (13). The backrest, in its tilting movements, drives the leg holder (6) via the armrests when the dog clutch ( 14. Fig. 4 and 5) is engaged, this makes the tubes (55) of the armrests and the tubes (6) of the leg holder integral. This dog clutch makes it possible to adjust the position of the leg holder whatever the position of the backrest (3); it is composed of two discs (50-54) rotating one on the other (including one with holes) and fixed for one to the armrest tube (55) and for the at utre to the leg holder tube (6) .On the outer disc is fixed a housing in which slides the dog clutch formed by an axis (51) held by a spring (52) and provided with a pull button (49 ).
The articulation relative to the dog clutch (14) comprises a mortise-shaped element (56) integral with the tube (55) of the armrest in which rotates a tenon-shaped element (58) Fig. 4 solid with the tu (6) of the legrest; these two elements are crossed by the axis (57) integral with the tube (4) belonging to the movable chassis. A bolt (53) screwed in this axis ensures the maintenance of the assembly.
The elements making up the two dogs (14-16) are made of high-strength steel and oversized. All the exterior parts are chrome plated as well as all the tubes constituting the convertible armchair. The balance of the chair when it is in the high position, with lateral movement (Fig.I2) is ensured by a telescopic crutch which rests on the ground under the patient's bed (37) and which is maneuvered at the foot by the operator by means of a button (23).
This crutch comprises a U-shaped profile (39) fixed on the supporting frame (1) in which slides a tube (43) on which is mounted another tube (44) constituting the foot and provided with a rubber stud (40) . This foot (44) rotates around an axis (45) according to the circular vector (46.Fig.7). A locking device in the low vertical position, in the horizontal position, and in the high vertical position is provided and is operated by the button (41). The upholstery including the backrest, the central cushion, the leg rest cushion and the armrests is made of imitation leather on rubber and is completely removable to allow dressing with washable cotton covers. The four sides
(67-Fig.I4) of the carrier chassis (1) are dressed with removable panels made of the same material, as well as the four sides of the movable chassis (66); for this, the covering of the lateral sides will be carried out on movable frames (66) fixed on the chassis (2) by pins with return spring (68 Fig. 7 and I4), in order to allow lateral displacement au- above the patient's bed The implementation of this convertible chair is as follows:
The operator approaches the chair as far as possible from the bed (37-42)
Fig. 7, he sets up the crutch by sliding it under the bed after having deployed the foot, he puts it in table position and raises it to a height allowing to pass over the bed. The patient is then turned on the side, back towards the table, which is pushed towards it until it comes into contact, and is slightly lowered, after locking the wheels, so as to compact the bed (47) which has the effect of leveling up that -this with the patient, the latter is then easily turned over on the table, which is raised to no longer touch the bed, and moved to the central position, then lowered. 0n straightens it and the patient finds himself in a normal chair, the stand is retracted, it is then adjusted at the patient's request, the brakes are released and the chair can be moved; the reverse operations are carried out for putting the patient to bed.
In conclusion, this convertible chair, given its simplicity of effortless operation and the comfort it offers to the patient (unlike existing devices sold on the international market: Straps with lifting tripod, etc.), built in series, should make it possible to reduce the operating costs of hospital services of medium stay, long stay, ect ... in hospitals, clinics, medical treatment houses, hospices, retirement homes, rehabilitation centers, ect. ..because it requires only one operator.
On the other hand, it can make it possible to avoid a large part of the accidents relating to the handling in force of the patients (very numerous for the hospital staff assigned to stretcher tasks, in particular for the female staff)
These accidents are mainly low back pain and herniated discs. They constitute the majority of workplace accidents in the hospital environment and are therefore the greatest generators of absenteeism.
