Description
Enceinte pour élevage des escargots à I'extérieur. Enclosure for breeding snails outside.
The present invention relates to the field of heliciculture and more particularly to the fattening phase of snails on the ground outside. Most snail breeders use a so-called mixed breeding method: one part indoors, the other outdoors, that is, during winter they breed the snails and they raise the young to a size about 2 grams, all this is done in air-conditioned premises. When the snails reach a weight of 2 grams they are stored in crates or they sleep while waiting for the beautiful days
In early May, the animals are released into outdoor parks where they will finish growing during the summer. The outdoor parks vary greatly in size: 5 to 200 m2. However, they are still built on the same principle; a barrier goes around it, above this barrier is an anti-leakage system preventing the exit of the snails. This system can be chemical (coarse salt, black soap) or electric. The bottom of the park is lined with a fine mesh screen to prevent predation by rodents and small carnivores. On the top of the park is generally arranged an anti bird net. On the small parks, the anti bird net as well as the anti-leakage system are replaced by a cover made up of a frame on which is stretched a mosquito net. Inside the parks are arranged names :.
Les animaux récoltés sont stockés dans des cagettes placées dans des locaux secs ou même des chambres froides en attendant la commercialisation. shady shelters (raised tiles or boards) under which the animals take refuge during the hot hours of the day as well as feeders where the food is sheltered. These parks are watered every evening. The animals feed at night digest and rest under the shelters during the day. The snails will be adults for the month of October and will be harvesting. The harvest is tedious it is necessary to search each shelter and tufts of grass, this "on all fours". When the harvest is finished, the park is completely disorganized, shelters and displaced feeders turned over and it will be necessary to put everything back in order before a new stand. Harvested animals are stored in crates placed in dry rooms or even cold rooms while awaiting marketing.
Before repopulating a park, it is desirable to turn the soil over and enrich it with trace elements necessary for the growth and formation of the snail shell.
The size of the land: barriers, shelters, fences at the bottom of the parks does not allow the use of appropriate means: tiller or plow. This makes that the heliculturists often neglect this operation, however essential to the success of their breeding.
Outdoor parks are subject to climatic variations.
Maximum growth is observed in hot and humid weather and a complete cessation of activity when a dry and cold wind blows. Thus the results of breeding can vary greatly from one year to the next.
In large parks, we often observe a phenomenon of migration and some parts of the park are overloaded while others are completely neglected by animals. Overdensity is always harmful to growth.
The object of the present invention is to considerably reduce handling during the placing in the park, picking up and storage of snails. Leave the ground completely free when the outdoor fattening is finished.
Significantly reduce the effects of climate by ensuring sufficient humidity and temperature for snail growth when weather conditions are unfavorable. To protect snails from their natural predators, birds, rodents and small carnivores. To ensure a homogeneous distribution of the snails on the ground.
To solve these problems, the invention essentially relates to a closed enclosure in which the snails are placed. The dimensions and the weight of this enclosure are such that it is easy to handle. Several speakers can be stacked. In winter as the snails reach a weight of approximately 2 grams they are placed in the enclosures at the rate of 300 animals per M2 they sleep there, at the beginning of May the enclosures are placed on the ground they will be picked up when the snails they contain will have reached a sufficient size, they can then be stacked in a dry and cool room, the snails can stay there for some time while waiting for marketing. Thus, the invention makes it possible, from a single enclosure, to store, transport, fatten and collect snails.
The enclosure, object of the invention is in the form of a rectangular box closed at the bottom by a fine mesh screen and above by a cover. The cover is made of two parts joined together by hinges.
One part is opaque, the other is transparent. The opaque part is approximately three times larger than the transparent part. The space between the mesh bottom and the cover is just necessary for the free movement of animals.
When the enclosure is used for fattening, a feeder is placed on the screen, under the transparent part of the cover. It is easily understood that snails placed in such an enclosure, placed on a ground, are protected from predators coming from the ground by the mesh and from aerial predators by the cover.
The opaque part of the cover serves as a shelter, during the day the snails take refuge there to sleep and digest. The transparent part of the lid causes a greenhouse effect during the day, thus heating the interior of the enclosure. The snail is a cold-blooded animal and the speed at which it digests and assimilates food is proportional to the temperature. Thus one understands the advantage that one has, in increasing the temperature inside the enclosures of breeding at the time of digestion: The transparent part of the cover makes it easy to see if the feeder is correctly furnished. The transparent part of the cover is advantageously articulated by two hinges on the opaque part and can thus be easily lifted to distribute the food.
In order for the snails to find the necessary humidity for their activity, a few liters of water are poured into each enclosure about once a week.
In a way, the invention will be better understood and other characteristics and advantages will be highlighted, with the aid of the description which follows, with reference to the appended schematic drawing representing, without limitation, a form of execution of this. equipment for the breeding, storage and handling of snails.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of equipment according to the invention. This material is in the form of an enclosure closed on the sides by four vertical walls (1, 2,3,4), on the bottom by a mesh (5) and above by a cover. The cover is formed of two parts, one is opaque (6) the other is transparent (7). The opaque part (6) and the transparent part (7) of the cover are connected together by two hinges (10). Under the transparent plate (7) is the feeder (8) on which the food (9) is placed. You access the feeder by lifting the transparent plate which pivots around the hinges (in). This operation is facilitated by passing a finger through the clearance (it). The vertical sides (3,4) of the enclosure are lower than the sides (1,2). The difference in height is approximately equal to the thickness of the cover. Advantageously two strips (12) are fixed on the sides (1,2). The upper edges of the strips (12) and sides (3,4) form a flat surface on which the cover (6,7) rests. The cover (6,7) can be lifted or slid over the strips (12 ).
The dimensions and weight of the enclosure are appropriate so that a single person can carry it.
The space between the mesh bottom (5) and the cover (6,7) is just necessary for the free movement of the snails. When the cover (6,7) completely closes the upper part of the invention; a closed enclosure is obtained.
Les petits escargots élevés l'hiver sont placés à l'intérieur au fur et à mesure qu'ils atteingnent un poids d'environ deux grammes à raison de trois cents animaux par mètre carré. Ils se colleront aux parois verticales (1,2,3,4) ainsi qu'au couvercle (6,7). Les enceintes sont empilées, le couvercle (6,7) tourné vers le haut en appui sur les bords supérieurs et infé rieurs des côtés (1,2). L & escargots ainsi conditionnés et placés dans un local sec et frais pourront sans risque dormir jusqu'aux beaux jours. Début mai les enceintes sont posées sur le terrain on déverse quelques litres d'eau à l'intérieur et l'on place les mangeoires (8) garnies de l'aliment (9). Les animaux retrouvent une humidité et une température suffisante et se remettent en activité. Le terrain a été préalablement ameubli et la terre a été enrichie en oligo-élément.Les esccargots puisent dans la terre à travers le grillage (5) les éléments essentiels à leurs croissances et à la formation de leur coquille. Les vers de terre dont la présence est favorisé par l'humidité constante du terrain passent à travers le grillage (5) et assurent le nettoyage de l'enceinte en ingèrant les excréments des escargots.On comprend qutà l'intérieur de l'enceinte les.Animauxsont parfaitement protégés des prédateurs (rongeurs, oiseaux et petits carnivores), ils sont aussi parfaitement à l'abri du vent qui surtout lorsque il est froid et sec empêche toute activité des escargots;
La partie transparente du couvercle (7)-réchauffe-l'inté- rieur de l'enceinte par effet de serre il s'en suit une importante évaporation créant ainsi une ambiance chaude et humide extrèmement favorable à la croissance des escargots.Small snails grown in winter are placed inside as they reach a weight of about two grams at the rate of three hundred animals per square meter. They will stick to the vertical walls (1,2,3,4) as well as to the cover (6,7). The enclosures are stacked, the cover (6,7) turned upwards bearing on the upper and lower edges of the sides (1,2). The snails thus conditioned and placed in a dry and cool room will be able to safely sleep until the beautiful days. At the beginning of May, the enclosures are placed on the ground, a few liters of water are poured inside and the feeders (8) are filled with the food (9). The animals regain sufficient humidity and temperature and resume activity. The ground was previously loosened and the ground was enriched with trace element. The snails draw in the ground through the wire (5) the essential elements for their growths and the formation of their shell. Earthworms whose presence is favored by the constant humidity of the ground pass through the mesh (5) and ensure the cleaning of the enclosure by ingesting the excrement of the snails. We understand that inside the enclosure the .Animals are perfectly protected from predators (rodents, birds and small carnivores), they are also perfectly sheltered from the wind which especially when it is cold and dry prevents any activity of the snails;
The transparent part of the cover (7) warms up the interior of the enclosure by greenhouse effect, followed by significant evaporation, thus creating a hot and humid atmosphere extremely favorable for the growth of snails.
The feeder (8) is placed under the transparent plate (7) so easily and at a glance, you can see if the snails have enough food, otherwise, it will suffice, by passing a finger in the clearance (11) to lift the plate (7) which pivots on the hinges (10) and to fill the feeder (8). This moment will be used to pour a few liters of water into the enclosure to maintain sufficient humidity.
When the snails have reached a sufficient size the enclosures are collected and transported to the places of preparation. Again the enclosures can be stacked and animals can stay there for a few weeks without risk while waiting for the day of slaughter.
Thus the enclosure which is the subject of the invention makes it possible to raise snails outdoors while ensuring the transport and storage inherent in this type of breeding and this in perfect conditions without handling the snails. the enclosure and the final harvest. Its particular design maintains when it is used for fattening outside, a hot and humid atmosphere ensuring rapid growth of snails.
