Abstract

A stubble field is ploughed by a machine which has groups of discs with each group mounted on a common shaft. Each disc has a curved but non-circular perimeter and a curved cross-section so that one face is concave and the other convex. The discs are made from heat treated steel or any other material of similar strength. The discs may be placed in any position relative to each other. USE/ADVANTAGE - These discs break up the soil in such a way that drainage is improved, and avoid the formation of a hard surface layer.

Description

The present invention relates to a disc used in agriculture for stubble cultivation and various soil preparation works.

Currently, postharvest stubble cultivation is done with a device fitted with a series of circular, concave discs, with smooth or crenellated edges. The edge of the disc cuts the soil, the stems and the remaining roots and its concavity makes it possible to lift it in order to bury the waste. Two successive trains of discs are used, placed in "V" or "X" as shown in FIG. 1, and whose concavity is reversed so as to have a total burial.

When these round discs are used, the work is always done at the same depth, and the convex face of the disc tends to smooth the earth: it can, depending on weather conditions, form a plate under the surface of the ground which interferes with natural drainage.

 It is also possible that the earth is sticky and therefore adheres in the concavity of the disc. This one being circular cannot evacuate this earth and the work carried out is less effective.

The invention relates to a new form of this disc.

A disc is shown on Figure 2. It is made of steel, treated or not, or any other material capable of accomplishing the requested work.

It is non-round in shape, with variable diameter. One can conceive for the adaptation to different work of the ground, elliptical shapes or circumscribing an equilateral triangle or not, according to figure 3.

The non-round shape of the discs eliminates the formation of a plate and the jamming of the discs, the dotted line representing the work of the next disc. Under the surface of the ground one will not be able to have a smooth plate but a bumpy surface favoring the natural drainage. (figure 4).

 On the other hand, the earth possibly adhering to the disc will evacuate naturally when it arrives on the narrower part of the disc.

This results in constant cleaning of the disc and regular work.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the terms of the foregoing description but includes all of its variants.

The invention extends to the complete apparatus consisting of a frame and a series of discs, whatever the position of one relative to the other.

The manufacturing is done by cutting, stamping or foundry and does not pose any particular problems.

This new non-round shape allows better drainage, avoids the formation of a hard plate, prevents stuffing by adhesion of the soil on the disc.

The tests demonstrated the best quality of work.
