 Device for holding and hooking poultry in evisceration machines in particular.

 The invention relates to the technical sector of poultry processing.

 The evisceration or other machines for the treatment of poultry in particular all have at least one work station equipped with a device capable of ensuring the attachment and maintenance of poultry. The known devices constitute for the most part a static assembly so that it is difficult to adapt the entire device to the size of the poultry in order to have a fixed and constant position of the latter. However, given the increasingly advanced automation of these machines, it is very important to always have the same reference for positioning poultry at the start of a cycle, in particular to determine the travel of others tools and organs relating to> other workstations.

 The invention finds a particularly advantageous application for the machine of the type described and defined in French patent application 86.01866 and comprising several fixed, independent work stations arranged to each perform a predetermined processing operation on poultry. In correspondence with each of these stations are moved step by step support devices capable of receiving the poultry to be treated.

 To solve the problem posed and in order to be able to position the poultry at a precise location on the processing machine regardless of the size of said poultry, the invention uses a device which is remarkable in that it comprises at least a movable support equipped with gripping members capable of receiving in particular the legs of poultry, said support being subject to control and height return means to be moved in the direction of at least one fixed prepositioning and abutment member able to cooperate with a part of the body of the poultry to secure his hand in combination with said gripping members according to.

 In order to make the object of the invention more concrete, it will now be described in a nonlimiting manner with reference to the exemplary embodiments of the figures of the drawings.

As shown in Figure i, the device comprises a mobile support (1) equipped with a pair of gripping members (2) and (3) arranged in a parallel manner and suitable for receiving in particular the legs of poultry in view of its hanging in suspension. The support (1) is subject to control (4) and return (5) means to be moved in the direction of a fixed member (6) shaped to ensure the positioning and the stop of the poultry to allow its maintenance, according to precise coordinates, in combination with the gripping devices
For this purpose the support (1) is mounted to slide freely along two vertical guide rods (7) and (8) fi xed on a base (9) receiving the fixed member (6). Between the gods rods ( 7) and (8) is mounted the elastic return means (5) in the form of a pneumatic spring working under compression to ensure the permanent return upwards of the support (i). The control means (4) can be a jack fixed to a part of the machine for example or to the fixed base (9), to cause the downward movement of the support, against the spring ( 5).

 The pair of gripping members (2) and (3) comprises an external movable finger and an internal fixed finger. Each of the movable fingers (2) consists of a cylindrical rod engaged in the thickness of the support block (1) with the ability to move in rotation, while being blocked in translation. This rod (2) has at the end, on the side of its end projecting widely from the support (1), a profiled pallet (2a).

 Importantly, the other end of the rod (2) is subject to an elastic member (11) capable of ensuring the permanent angular return in the closed position of the pallet (2a) having regard to the internal fixed finger (3 ) For example, this member (11) is a torsion spring mounted in the rear part of the rod (2), one of the strands (11a) being engaged. in a plate (12) mounted at the end of the finger (2) with a fixed angular position, while the other strand (11b) cooperates with the rear end of the finger (3).

The rod (2) further has a transverse finger (2b) forming an angular abutment of said rod against the finger (3) in the rest position.
Each of the fixed fingers (3) is constituted by a cylindrical rod engaged in the thickness of the support block (1) while being blocked therein in rotation and in translation. The free ends of the rods (3) of the pallet catie (2a) of the movable fingers (2) are very slightly curved to facilitate the engagement of the legs of the poultry between the fingers (2) and (3) facing each other. said pallets. The rod (3) is secured, at the level of the pallet (2a), to a transverse stop (3a) capable of ensuring the positioning of the legs of the poultry.

 The fixed member (6), integral with the base (9) receiving the guide rods (7) and (8) and the return spring (5) of the block (i), is in the form of a stirrup, whose parallel branches (6a) and (6b) allow the external support of the legs of the poultry on the one hand, and the positioning and the center in the stop position of the cesspool inside said branches, somewhere else. The distance between the branchas (6a) and (6b) of the abutment member is very substantially equal to or slightly less than the distance between the fixed fingers opposite (3).

 In combination with the stirrup (6) can be mounted a support block (13) able to cooperate with the back of the poultry.  The cylinder (4) being retracted in height, under the effect of relaxation of the pneumatic spring (5), the block (1) with the gripping members (2) and (7) is returned to the initial position which has the effect to put the cesspool of the poultry in the stop position with the fixed member (6). The whole block (1) continues to rise, its height stroke being limited and determined by the tension of the legs of the poultry, wedged in the gripping members, in combination with the e ++ and stop of the cesspool.

 The poultry thighs are thus kept apart on either side of the member (6), the paddles (2a), under the biasing effect of the torsion spring ensuring the least firm and precise of the legs in combination with fixed fingers (3).

 It therefore appears independently of the size of the thighs and back-thighs of the poultry that the cesspool of the latter is always placed in the same place on the machine which is very important in the case for example of machines for automatic evisceration . In fact the starting point, for each of the different operations, is always the same.

 In the case of an application to a gutting machine of the type described in patent application FR 86.01866 and where the different work stations are distributed over a circumference at predetermined fixed intervals, at least one, but preferably two devices as described are coupled to support members (1) subject to control means for moving said devices successively opposite each of the work stations.

 The advantages emerge clearly from the rest of the description.   1.  CLAIMS - 1 - Device for holding and hooking poultry in evisceration machines in particular, characterized in that it comprises at least one mobile support (1) equipped with gripping members (2) (3) capable to receive in particular the legs of poultry, said support (1) being subject to control means (4) and return (5) in height to be moved in direction of at least one fixed member (6) of prepositioning and stop capable of cooperating with a part of the body of the poultry to ensure sound. maintenance in combination with said gripping members according to precise and constant coordinates.
    - 2 - Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the gripping members are constituted by two external movable fingers (2) and by two internal fixed fingers (3), said fingers being parallel.
