Device which can be integrated into a cash draw of a recording cash register for instantaneous display, on the screen 4, of the sum, in whole or per category of tickets, of the types of tickets contained in the boxes 51, 52 of the cash register, by simply pressing with the finger on a button 10 for applying power.

Description

The present invention relates to an addition to the main patent r 85 13183 relating to the instant display of the amount of money in a cash register, and more particularly relates to a device for counting banknotes.

The device according to the invention allowing the counting and the instant display of the amount of the tickets will be better understood by referring to the figures, FIG. 1 representing the drawer of the cash register seen from above, FIG. 2 representing the electronic block diagram, Figure 3 showing the cash register drawer viewed from the side.

It is characterized by the following components: -a set of plastic boxes whose size is appropriate for the different types of banknotes in progress (51,52); -two lockers reserved for housing checks (53), curved at the base, and for housing credit cards (54); -each plastic case (51, 52) suitable for a category of tickets is arranged at an angle between 150 and 750 to avoid an increase in volume of the cash register drawer; -each plastic case (51,52) has a rounded recess (61) in the center of the upper part favoring the passage of the fingers for gripping the banknotes; - = r. comb-axis (58) inside each case - (51,52) whose weight exerts pressure on the banknotes to promote stacking ;; -four photocells (55,56) are distributed in each box (51, 52). The horizontal distance between the cells of the pair (56) is less than 13c <- the width of the ticket corresponding to the housing (51, 52). The vertical distance between a cell (55) and a cell (56) is significantly less than the height of a ticket. We therefore have 20 photocells due to the number of categories of tickets (500F, 200F, 100F, 50F, 20F); this number can be adjusted according to changes in tickets used in a country; -a transmitting diode (60) disposed in each housing (51,52) facing two photocells (55,56) and at an equal distance from these; an interface (40) making the connection between the pairs of photocells (41 to 50) and the computing unit (27,28,29); -a flashing lamp (59) indicating an incorrect distribution of the currency or notes.

The operational phases are as follows: -on power-up by the operator pressing the button (10), then after the initialization phase, the calculation unit (27,28,29) activates the interface (24 ) and starts continuous scanning on the interface (40); the coding of the tickets is done by a 10-bit word; each bit represents the state of a pair of photocels ules at an instant "t". Having a pair of superimposed photocells (55,56) per ticket box (51,52), there are therefore 2 bits per category of tickets.

Selon la technologie des photocellules, l'interruption du faisceau d' une photocellule permet l'état "1" ou "O".According to photocell technology, the interruption of the beam of a photocell allows the state "1" or "O".

The 2 photocells (55,56) are arranged according to Fit.3; the photocell placed at the bottom (56) detects the withdrawal of the ticket from bottom to top; the other photocell placed at the top (55) is used to validate the complete passage of the ticket out of its case. In the opposite direction, in the case of a ticket introduction, the 2 photocells (55,56) swap roles. When the banknotes are housed in the lockers, the high edge of the banknote is located under the beam between the emitting diode (60) and the low photocell (56).

By placing the photocells parallel to the entrance of the box (51, 52), an inadvertent or malicious entry to a ticket is prohibited without it being detected. If one of the 2 cells (55,56) excluding the other has detected a passage, the anomaly is signaled, recorded and brought to the screen (4) and can only be cleared by completely resetting the drawer .

The operational phases for a category of tickets are as follows, considering the instant "t" includes the instant preceding any operation: the bits of the high photocell (55) and of the low photocell (56) are at "0 "; the calculation unit (27,28,29) does nothing; -the immediate next instant considered "t + dt" corresponds to the ticket withdrawal operation; the bit of the low photocell (56) goes to state "1"; the bit of the upper photocell (55) remains at "0"; then successively, and in a time corresponding to the ticket withdrawal maneuver, the bit of the upper photocell (55) goes to "1"; -immediately after the instant "t + t", ie after the completion of these two states, the low (56) and high (55) photocells return to the state "0" in chronological order; -the calculation unit (27,28,29) subtracts a unit from the category of banknotes considered; the device is ready for another operation.

- the instant "t '+ t" corresponding to the insertion of a ticket, the bit of the upper photocell (55) changes to "1". The other photocell '56) remains at "O", then successively the bit of the lower photocell (55) changes to "1"; -immediately after these 2 states, the high (55) and low (56) photocells return to "C" in chronological order: high photocell (55) e first, low photocell (56) second; -the calculation unit (27,28,29) adds a unit in the category of tickets considered.

The calculations and displays are made in an identical manner to the device described by the main patent.
