Abstract

The invention relates to an electronic safety detector ensuring the immediate tripping of the chain brake of a chain saw as soon as it comes into accidental contact with the user. It is characterised in that it comprises an electromagnet 10 with a retracting shaft 14 allowing the tripping of the chain brake controlled by an electronic circuit 16 detecting the infinitesimal flow of current between the tubular metal handle 1 insulated from the chain saw unit 3 and the chain 8 through the body of the user, the whole assembly being supplied by the magnetic flywheel of the chain saw, the current being rectified and stabilised by the electronic system 15. The tripping of the chain brake may take place directly by means of the shaft of the electromagnet or by mechanical assistance using the driving force of the machine.
