Abstract

The set of shelves for furniture are made from shelves (1a) fixed to uprights (20), fixed together in pairs in the form of ladders. The shelves are fixed on the uprights by hooks (6,7) with rods bent into an L-shape. Some of these have a bolt (9) with a support collar (8) on one extremity. The internal face of the uprights has horizontal holes (14) in which one extremity of the hooks fits. The other extremity fits into vertical holes (15) in each corner of the shelves.

Description

 The subject of the present invention is a set of elements designed so that they can be assembled easily in order to produce furniture of various types and the composition and arrangement of which may vary depending on the elements used.

 I1 already exist many models of furniture constituted by complementary elements arranged to be assembled at the place of use. However, the elements thus provided are designed for the production of a specific type of furniture, for example shelving, so tools do not allow furniture of different types to be produced.

 Moreover, the assembly means provided in sets of elements of this kind are also designed for a single determined type of assembly. Under these conditions, it is not possible to envisage their use for making different arrangements.

 This is why the set of elements according to the present invention is designed so as to allow the production of very diverse types of furniture and varied compoeitiors, and this, from a limited number of basic elements and only one type of assembly members comprising simply variants allowing assemblies of different natures.

 To this end, the present assembly, which includes shelves as well as uprights joined in pairs in the form of ladders, is characterized in that, for fixing the shelves to the uprights, there is provided a series of hooks constituted by a rod angled in, some of which carry a nut provided with a support flange, and in that, on their internal face, the uprights have two series of horizontal holes suitable for receiving one of the ends of such a hook, however that the shelves themselves have, in each corner, a vertical hole intended to receive the opposite end of such a hook.

In addition to the shelf retaining hooks, the present assembly also includes hooks of a particular type, arranged to allow the fixing of vertical elements, for example wall elements, against one or the other side of a ladder or against one of the amounts of such a ladder. However, the present set also includes various other additional elements, in particular vertical partitions intended to be placed between the horizontal shelves, storage drawers, etc.

 - Figure 9 is a partial view in vertical section along the line IX-IX of Figure 7, but also on a different scale.

 As already indicated, this set includes, among other things, a series of shelves 1 as well as a series of uprights 2, joined in pairs in the form of ladders3 (see Figure 2).

 In each of these scales the two corresponding uprights are connected by several horizontal crosspieces 4.

 These scales are intended to be arranged in parallel to serve as a support for the shelves 1. For their part, these have a width which corresponds to that of the scales. However, these tablets have a notch 5 in each of leuz cois to come to fit on the edge of the corresponding amount of such scales.

In this regard, it should be noted that the depth of these notches is such that each of the ends of a shelf 1 is engaged inside the corresponding scale over only half of the thickness thereof.

Under these conditions, it is possible to engage, inside the same ladder 2, two shelves 1 arranged horizontally at the same level (see FIG. 4). This therefore makes it possible to produce shelves, or other storage furniture, of a greater or lesser length comprising a desired number of scales between which are arranged several series of shelves 1.

 The present assembly also comprises assembly members of the same general type but which correspond to b. variants allowing assemblies of different natures. Indeed, all these organs consist of hooks constituted by a metal rod bent in X or U. These various hooks, whose particular functions will appear during the description, are shown side by side in Figures 1A to 1D.

 FIG. 1A represents a first model of hooks 6 in the form of L of which one of the branches is shorter than the other. As for FIG. 1-S, it represents a hook 7 of the same shape which is differentiated only by the fact that its shorter end is threaded so as to receive a nut 8 provided with a support flange 9.

 In FIG. 1C is shown another L-shaped hook model 10, the different dimensions of which are determined for a particular application which will be described later. On this hook 10, it is its longest branch 11 which is threaded at the end so as to receive a nut 8 provided with a support flange 9.

 Finally, Figure ID represents a hook 12 in the shape of a U, the lateral branches of which are of unequal lengths. On this hook the longest side branch 13 is threaded at the end to receive a nut 8 provided with a support flange 9. the dimensions of this hook are also designed for a particular application which will be explained in the following description .

 All these hooks are intended to be hung in the uprights 2 of the ladders 3 to fix on them horizontal shelves 1 or any other desired elements forming part of the present set. To this end, the internal faces of the uprights 2 have two series of horizontal holes 14 able to receive one of the ends of these assembly hooks.

 For their part, the shelves 1 have, in each of their corners, a vertical hole 15 adapted to receive the opposite end of an assembly hook of the type of those shown in FIGS. 1A and 13.

 For the production of a shelf, it suffices to use hooks of the simplest model, that is to say the hooks 6 shown in FIG. 1A, by engaging their longest branch in the holes 14 uprights 2 and orienting their shortest branch upwards so that it enters the holes 15 in the corners of a shelf 1 as shown in FIG. 4. Under these conditions the hooks 6 are arranged in planes vertical and they ensure perfect fixing in place of the horizontal shelves 1. In this regard, it should be noted that it is unnecessary for the vertical holes 15, starting from the underside of the shelves 1, to open on their upper face. , the upper face of these shelves remains intact, which is an advantageous element for the aesthetic appearance of the furniture produced.

 However, when it is planned to mount a horizontal shelf comprising a cantilever part projecting from the front of the piece of furniture produced, or from one of the sides thereof, it is then advisable to use , from the opposite side, hooks 7 such as that shown in FIG. 13.

 Thus, FIGS. 3 and 4 show, in mixed drafts, a horizontal shelf comprising a protruding part outside the space delimited by the two corresponding scales 3. To avoid pressing on this protruding part allowing the tablet to be released compared.

with the hooks then it suffices to provide, on the opposite side, hooks 7 provided with a nut 8 comprising a support flange 9. Of course, in this case the vertical holes 15 formed at this location in the shelf must be extended to lead to the upper face thereof.

 The set of elements according to the invention includes other complementary elements designed to be combined with ladders 3 and shelves 1 in order to produce furniture of various types and not just simple shelves. Thus, this assembly comprises vertical partitions 16 for separation, capable of being disposed between two horizontal shelves 1. For their fixing in place these partitions carry vertical studs 17 on their upper and lower edges, the shelves 1 having blind holes 18 suitable to receive these tenons. Under these conditions it is possible to produce storage boxes which may or may not have one or more removable shelves 1 9 supported by keys 20 or other suitable members attached to the vertical partitions.

 However, there are also provided drawers 21 which can be arranged inside these storage boxes. In this case, the internal faces of the vertical partitions 16 are provided with slides suitable for receiving these drawers. IWIais of course many other complementary elements of arrangement can be added to this set to further increase the possibilities of arrangement and equipment of the furniture made using this set.

 FIG. 6 represents an exemplary embodiment of a cupboard produced by means of certain elements forming part of the present assembly. In fact, the frame of this cupboard which is backed by a wall M, is constituted by two scales 3. the end walls are formed by two panels 22 fixed vertically against the external sides of these scales. This fixing is then ensured by using a series of hooks 10 such as that shown in FIG. 1C.

 In this regard, it should be noted that these hooks are arranged in horizontal planes and not vertically as is the case for the hooks 6 and 7.

The longest branch 11 of each of these hooks is then placed against the internal face of the corresponding upright 2, so as to engage its shortest branch inside the hole 14 which, at the level considered, is the most distant. The length of the branch it is determined accordingly. This has a primary advantage, namely the fact that when tightening there is no risk of damaging the corresponding amount 2 as could have been the case if the hooks in question had been engaged in the holes 14 closest to the panel 22 to fix in place.

 Of course each of these panels has a series of holes intended to receive the end of the branch 11 of the hooks 10 as well as a tightening nut 8, the flange 9 of which rests on the external face of these panels. Under these conditions, the latter are therefore perfectly fixed against the corresponding scales 2, parallel to the median plane thereof. As for the front of the cupboard considered, it consists of a vertical panel 23 fixed against the uprights 2 of the two corresponding scales 3. For this attachment, a series of hooks 12 of the type shown in FIG. 1D is then used.

 Like the hooks 10, these are arranged horizontally and not vertically like the hooks 6 and 7. The middle branch of each of these hooks is then placed against the internal face of the corresponding upright 2 to engage the most lateral branch short in a hole 14 of the amount considered. The opposite lateral branch 13 is then located opposite the opposite edge of the upright, so that its threaded end can be engaged inside a hole provided for this purpose in the front panel 23 in order to receive the nut. corresponding tightening 8.

 here again the particular shape of the hook 12 makes it possible to avoid that, at the time of tightening, a deterioration of the corresponding amount 2 can occur, as could have been the case if the end of this hook had been engaged in the hole closest to the latter.

 Due to the fact that the support flange 9 of the nuts 8 is supported on the external face of the front panel 23, the latter is perfectly fixed in place. Of course, this panel may include an access opening or a door.

In addition, it is possible to mount a bottom panel in the same way. Instead of constituting a storage cupboard, the piece of furniture thus produced can be used for other uses, for example to act as a fitting room in a clothing store.

 FIG. 7 represents yet another example of a piece of furniture produced by means of the elements forming part of the present assembly. In this case it is a bed, for example a child's bed.

 This bed comprises a horizontal plate 24, each of the ends of which is supported by two ladders 3, arranged on either side and parallel to the long sides of this plate. This plate is fixed to the uprights 3 of these scales by means of hooks 6 of the type shown in FIG. 1A.

 However, a surrounding element 25, forming a balustrade, is arranged above the sides of this tray, this element being open on one of its long sides to allow access to the bed.

 As shown in Figure 8, this surround element is arranged inside the space delimited by the scales 3, and the long sides. of this element are fixed to the uprights 2 of these scales by means of hooks 10 of the type shown in FIG. 1C. The long branch 11 of these hooks is disposed against the internal face of the uprights 2 of the ladders 3, so that the other branch is hooked in the hole 14 furthest from this upright.

 the threaded end 11 is engaged through a hole in the corresponding long side of the surrounding element 25.

The latter is secured by means of nuts 8, the support flange 9 of which presses against the internal face of the surrounding element 25.

Under these conditions it is therefore perfectly immobilized in place.

 To avoid any risk of bending of the sides of the plate 24, the latter can be connected to the lower spar 26 of the surrounding element 25 by a number of hooks ÎOa of the type of the hook shown in FIG. 1C, but the branch 11 has a shorter length. These hooks are then arranged vertically and their shortest branch is hooked in a blind hole 27 provided in the spar 26. As for the other branch of these hooks, its end is engaged inside a hole made in the plate 24 and the latter is clamped in place by the flange 9 of the corresponding nut 8.

 Eien heard the furniture described above are only a few examples of application of the furniture elements according to the invention. Indeed, with these elements it is possible to make many other types of furniture by providing many different arrangements and equipment from the same basic elements.

 In this regard it should be noted that these elements are relatively simple and inexpensive and that nevertheless the furniture produced has a very aesthetic appearance.

However, another important advantage of the set of elements according to the invention lies in the fact that the assembly operations are very easy to execute by an inexperienced person, for example by the user of the elements in question. This is obviously due to the nature of the assembly means provided and to the design of the various elements of this assembly.

Claims (7)

 1 - Set of elements for the production of furniture, comprising shelves as well as uprights joined in pairs in the form of ladders, characterized in that, for fixing the shelves to the uprights, there is provided a series of hooks formed by a bent rod in X, and some of which carry a nut provided with a support flange, and in that on their internal face, the uprights have two series of horizontal holes suitable for receiving one of the ends of a such a hook, however that the shelves themselves have, in each corner, a vertical hole intended to receive the opposite end of such a hook.  2 - set of elements according to claim 1, characterized in that in addition to the shelf retaining hooks, this set comprises L-shaped hooks arranged to allow the fixing of a vertical element against one or the other side of a ladder by being hung horizontally at the desired level by their shortest branch in the hole furthest from the corresponding ladder, these hooks being provided with a support flange nut screwed at the end of their branch longer.  3 - set of elements according to claim 1, characterized in that in addition to the shelf retaining hooks, this set includes U-shaped hooks, arranged to allow the fixing of a vertical element against one of the uprights d '' a ladder, perpendicular to the plane thereof, being hung horizontally at the desired level, by their shortest lateral branch, in the hole furthest from the corresponding scale, these hooks being provided with a flanged nut support screwed at the end of their longest side branch.  4 - set of elements according to claims 2 and 3, characterized in that it comprises wall elements, or others, intended to be fixed vertically against the side of the ladders, or against one of their uprights, and which have holes capable of receiving the corresponding end of the retaining hooks used as well as its clamping nut with flange.  5 - set of elements according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it further comprises, vertical partition walls intended to be arranged between two horizontal shelves, the horizontal edges of these partitions carrying pins capable of be engaged in vertical holes provided in the corresponding shelves.  6 - set of elements according to claim 3, characterized in that it further comprises, drawers capable of sliding on slides or guide rails provided on the internal walls of certain vertical partitions.  7 - set of elements according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it further comprises, one or more horizontal plates whose longitudinal edges have, near the ends, two pairs of notches for their nesting on the two amounts of two scales arranged on either side of each end and themselves joined by crosspieces, such a plate can be fixed on the amounts by the same hooks as those used for fixing the shelves.
