Abstract

The supporting structure which can be erected against a wall has vertical supports which extend between floor and ceiling and are used to carry shelves, bookcases, cupboards etc. In addition they can be secured by special corner inserts to horizontal members so as to build up rectangular frames. Both these verticals and horizontals (2) are hollow, and basically have two hollow square sections (8) joined by a central bridging flange (9). On each side of this flange project two short outside extensions (13) parallel to the flange, leaving a central gap each side. This enables a locking plate (19) to be inserted into the hollow interior, at either side. A horizontal shelf support (16) can then be secured to the plate inside by a screw (18). The shelf support is prevented from twisting about the axis of the screw by ridges (14) projecting from the main support which fits into grooves across its contact face.
