Abstract

The filtering ability in diesel engines for the fuel at low temp. is restricted by crystallisation effects. This is overcome by recycling the surplus gas oil from the injection pump in order to reheat fuel from the reservoir. A pump which is upstream of a fuel supply filter delivers fuel to injectors in a diesel engine. Surplus fuel from the pump passes via a thermostatic element on a distribution value. The thermostatic element controls the flow and thereby the temp. of a mixture of oil from the pump and from the reservoir via the supply filter. This enables the parafin oils to be dissolved and also maintain a constant temp. by recycling the fuel oil from the valve to the resrvoir. For very cold temps. The arrangement may be connected to the fuel pipes electric heating system.
