Abstract

The cooking unit comprises at least two electric cooking plates. A device supplies electrical power to the plates, and a switching device regulates or controls the supply to at least one of the plates rhythmically. The switching device of at least one favoured cooking plate is such that when at least one portion of its power is switched off, at least one subsequent cooking plate is supplied with power. Pref. the switching device is a thermostat and has at least one transfer contact which switches over between the supply of the associated cooking plate and the supply of the subsequent plate. Pref. the thermostat has a snap switch with a catch spring having two electrically separated lines and two contacts co-operating with a catch spring contact at each end.
