Abstract

The machine is charged by the tilting skip of an elevator powered by a braked, geared motor. The traverse of the skip is determined by upper and lower limit switches. A single electric motor is used to motivate the brush mechanism which breaks up the initial clusters of mussels etc., to brush clean the prod. and to rake the prod. through the gaps of size grading grills. An electric vibrator is used to oscillate the grills which serve as a vibratory conveyor. The speed of conveying is adjustable by moving the vibrator support arm between (+-)45 deg. to the horizontal and thus adjusting the amplitude of vibration. Robust and compact machine which is inexpensive to build and operate and is very effective for preparing oysters etc. for market.
