A NON-ZERO MAGNETIC FIELD AT ANY POINT OF THE VOLUME DETERMINED BY THE SOLIDIFICATION FRONT 35 OF THE METAL IN THE MOLD 11 IS CREATED BY A STATOR 27 OF A BIPOLAR INDUCTION MOTOR WHICH IS MOUNTED AROUND THE MOLD UNDER THE COOLING SYSTEM 20. SUCH A FIELD CREATES SHEAR FORCES WHICH REDUCE THE GROWTH AND BINDING OF PRIMARY DENDRITES IN THE SOLID PHASES TO FORM A VERY FINE GRAIN STRUCTURE IN SUSPENSION IN A LIQUID MATRIX, CALLED "THIXOTROPIC" STRUCTURE, UP TO THE FRONT OF SOLIDIFICATION 35. APPLIES IN PARTICULAR TO THE CONTINUOUS OR SEMI-CONTINUOUS CASTING OF ALL METALS OR ALLOYS.
