Abstract

Horizontal boiler-evaporator, partic, for concn. of H2SO4 or other corrosive liqs., with an enclosure through which the liq. to be processed passes over horizontal heat exchanger tubes carrying steam or other heat transfer fluid, has vertical baffles stepped in the direction of the length of the boiler. Baffles consist of perforated plates which cross the exchanger tubes and hold them in position. Baffles assist the vertical and radial distribution of the flow of vapours of H2SO4 or other liq. being boiled. Invention facilitates construction and improves the performance of such appts.
