Abstract

A method of automatic control of molten metal bath level in cristallizers comprises the determination of the metal bath level and formation of an electronic signal carrying the information relating to that metal bath level, comparison, in an electronic logical device, of the signal carrying the information relating to the metal bath level with a pre-set value, generation of a steering electric signal proportional to the difference between the value of the signal carrying the information relating to the metal bath level and the pre-set value, and adjusting, depending on the steering electric signal, of the velocity of the cristallizer in relation to the ingot therein, so that the metal bath level coincides with the pre-set value. The method provides for determination of the metal bath level with a television transmitting camera installed in such a way that its field of vision covers the area of contact of the metal bath surface with the inner wall of the cristallizer, whereas the electric signal carrying the information relating to the metal bath level and the steering electric signal are formed with an electronic logical calculating machine.
