Abstract

Mixing and metering head is to mix viscous liquids with more mobile ones. The visous liquid is fed by a gear pump which recycles it until it is needed. Its passage into the mixing chamber is blocked by a piston. The second more mobile liquid (e.g. water) is fed to the head under pressure. The pressure is sufficient to overcome the tension in a retaining spring below the piston and causes this to move down. The viscous liquid then flows down a passage into the mixing chamber where it combines with the dilution water. The proportion is adjusted by limiting the movement of the piston which regulates the flow of dilutiong water. Used esp. for mixing fruit syrups with dilution water, natural mineral water of gasified water to create a drink. Gives constant metering of the liquids syrup independent of viscosity, density, pressure or temp.
