Abstract

The orthopaedic shoe is worn on a foot which is encased in a plaster cast. IT comprises a rigid or semi-rigid sole with a shallow rubber base and heel. A flexible upper is stuck or stitched to the sole and this is open-toed with integral heel and side sections. The side sections have punched holes or clips so the shoe can be laced tightly over the plaster cast. The shoe leaves the toes free. is made of a lightweight material to minimise the weight of the cast and is easy to put on.
