Abstract
The other object is made of glass, ceramic or metal; and a solder preform is placed between the joint surfaces of the two objects, followed by heating to below the m.pts. or softening points of the objects and the solder, and the application of pressure producing plastic deformation of the solder. The solder preform is pref. made of Al, heated to 500-600 degrees C under a pressure of 10-30 MN/m2; alternatively, a Pb preform is heated to 250-300 degrees C under 5-15 MN/m2. A third pref. solder is In, heated to 70-140 degrees C with pressure 4-9 MN/m2. The sintered ZnS is pref. a window soldered to the body of a photomultiplier tube.
