Abstract

The encapsulation of projected (sprayed) particles comprises preparing a polymer soln. for auro-encapsulation which contains 0.3-25 wt.% of a polymer, 35-99 wt.% of a solvent for the polymer and 1-40 wt.% of particles, the particles being non-miscible with the solvent. The polymer is selected from PVAC, a polyvinyl etter in which the repeat unit contains 2-10C atoms, an acrylic polymer or copolymer prepd. from monomers of formula (I) or an interpolymer of formula (II). In the formulae, R1H or a 1-30C alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or arlkyl radical; R2H1 or a 1-12C alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or arlkyl radical; R, R1 are H or methyl; r12 methyl, ethyl, propyl or butyl; R3 methyl or ethylf n 3-12 wt.% w.r.t. the total weight of n, x, y and z; x 8-25 wt. %; y 45-89 wt.% and z 0-44 wt.%; n+x+y+z are exactly 100 and the gps. n, x, y and Z are present in the relative heterogeneous positions. The soln. also contains a cpd. chosen from ammonia, hydrazine and a low b.pt primary or secondary aliphatic amine, the salt is soluble in water at pH 5-8. The soln. may contain combination of the above substances. The above soln. is then sprayed so as to vaporise the solvent and coat the particles. Used in coating of particles during spraying, partic. for use in agriculture and prestry. The active cpd. is then gradually released from the coated particles over a period.
