Abstract

Heating collars for the barrels of plastics processing machinery comprises a hollow split collar contg. several layers of an electrical resistance heating wire supported on a layer of insulating material lining the internal wall of the collar. Used for heating injection moulding or extrusion meachines. The collars have little thermal inertia, so that thermal overshoot on reaching a temp. set point is minimal and ancillary coolant circulation systems are not also required.
