Abstract

The tile is moulded in conventional form (e.g. rounded or semi-circular channel form) using a high proportion of refractory material and leaving in the upper face of the tile concave depression in which a metallic heat-transfer coil is received. The coil is covered with an opaque refractory material of the same shade as the rest of the tile which is then dried without firing. The coil is dimensioned as desired, and can be replaced by a bundle of capillaries. The spaced beneath the tiles can be insulated with a layer of glass wool to form a layer of warm air into which a pre-heating coil can be inserted. In an alternative form, the depression in the tile is covered over by a translucent or transparent material tiving a greenhouse effect.
