Abstract
The transparent dome of a solar energy collector encloses a collector unit connected to the prim. circuit for the air transferring the heat. This follows two paths to an accumulator containing masses of refractory material delimiting two internal circuits. One of these is connected to the primary circuit whilst the other is branched into a circuit from which air can be drawn off. Connection between the dome and at least one of the passages of the primary circuit is controlled by a valve. Beneath the outwardly convex dome a base plate supports a semicircular envelope forming the collector, and in the plane of the base plate, there is a grid which can be opened selectively, whilst the collector is joined via a pump to the prim. circuit. The invention advantageously uses air as the transfer medium. The installation is less complex, but is more reliable and needs less maintenance. Whilst offering a much larger capacity for collection and storage, the unit can easily be accommodated in the structure of a building.
