Abstract

The angles of inclination of mechanical piece part is measured for evaluation purposes. A single feeler is moved along part or the part is moved to perform operation similar to a comparator. A feeler (5) of required shape contacts piece part (30) being measured. Feeler shaft (2) is spring loaded to maintain feeler position on piece part as it is moved a distance (L) along it. A spring (31) on pinion (32) transfers its effect via pinions (33, 34, 28) to ensure articulated arm (7) contacts edge (6) on feeler shaft. Quadrants (35, 37) with pointers (36, 38) indicate value of measured angle on scales.
