Abstract

Prefabricated refractory elements, esp. fixed or mobile side beams for furnace hearths, such as mobile beams, are made by casting the prim. refractory in a steel mould followed by hardening. Specifically, refractory concrete is slip cast and solidified by vibration in a steel mould, the shape of the right section of which is such that the working surface of the prefabricated beam is formed on the base of the steel mould. The quality of the working surface of the beam is improved so that its resistance to wear is improved.
