Abstract

Appts. for oblique cutting of webs whose cut edge is simultaneously chamfered has a rotary knife blade which is traversed obliquely w.r.t. the web to be cut. The web is supported along the line of cutting by a suction cylinder whose bores are connected to a source of partial vacuum. Pref. the appts. includes a suction roller whose extreme periphery is disposed above the plane defined by the feed and discharge endless belts, the roller being pref. mounted for axial displacement during its rotation. Pref. the rotary cutting blade is made of steel, at least its periphery being tempered and the blade is disposed either at the tangent or secant w.r.t. the periphery of the roller. Appts. combines in simple manner all features required to give oblique and chamfered edge cut.
