Abstract

Opto electronic developments permitting rotation of plane of polarisation enable stereoscopic TV to be observed. A sync. signal transmitted by ultrasonics to circuits in spectacle arms permits switching of left and right channels. A TV receiver (1) driving a CRT (2) for stereoscopic viewing has a time base (3) connected via switching circuit (5) which controls an ultrasonic transmission circuit (7). Communication to a detector (8) is an all or nothing principal. The detector drives a battery driven amplifier (9) to switch opto electronic blanking pulses to spectacles (6). A switch enables the left and right eye signals to be positioned correctly for each pair of spectacles.
