Abstract

The process in which 5% hydroquinone, 0.1% retinoic acid and 0.1% corticoid in a fat phase are emulsified in an aq. phase, comprises dissolving the retinoic acid in a mixt. of ethanol and castor oil. The cream is used on the skins to remove undesirable discolourations caused e.g. by the sun or ageing. The three components provide a synergistic effect, but their incorporation in a cream has given stability problems, as a result of the difficult solubility of the cpds. The process overcomes the problem enabling a stable emulsion.
