Abstract

L'invention concerne des terpolymères et leurs procédés de préparation. On prépare, selon une technique de polymérisation en émulsion, des terpolymères à partir de 1 un acide alpha , beta -insaturé tel que l'acide methacrylique, 2 un ester alkylique d'un acide alpha , beta -insaturé tel que l'acrylate d'éthyle et 3 un monomère organique à insaturation éthylénique copolymérisable avec les monomères 1 et 2 pour former un latex stable et caractérisé de plus par le fait que la probabilité des liaisons acide-acide du terpolymère formé par la polymérisation de ce monomère avec les monomères 1 et 2 est inférieure à 81 %. L'invention s'applique en particulier à des émulsions aqueuses stables de terpolymère utiles comme épaississants.
