Abstract

The safety helmet (1), mainly for use by motorcyclists, has an acoustic device to allow the communication between the rider and a passenger. The acoustic device (3) consists of two microphones (4, 5), one at the back and one at the front, and some headphones (6) joined together by acoustic tubes (7, 8). The acoustic device can be either electronic or mechanical, functioning by air vibration. If it is mechanical a supple tube is used to join the rider and the passenger. It can be put into the helmet during manufacture or added later so that it is removable.
