Abstract

New diagnostic agent for the determination of alpha-amylase (I) in body fluids consists of (a) a reagent (R1) for maltotetraose, maltopentaose, and maltohexaose; and (b) an enzymatic glucose detecting reagent (R2). Diagnostic agent allows a rapid, quantitative measurement of (I) to be made. The test also differentiates between salivary and pancreatic (I). The quantitative measurement of (I) is stated to be useful in medical diagnosis.
