Abstract

The sling is particularly for handling heavy and fragile loads, being of steel rope, having a tubular rubber sheath (10, 11) reinforced by woven fibres of steel of natural or synthetic material in one or more layers (8, 9). The design protects both the sling from sharp edges on the load, and also the load from damage to its paintwork. The rubber can be chemically inert to a large number of different acids, thus allowing use of the sling to lift items in and out of treatment baths etc. It can also be entirely smooth on the outside, avoiding any danger to the hands of the user. It can furthermore be insulated to protect the user from static or other electric shocks.
