Abstract

Several cutter discs are mounted on two parallel shafts in a paper shredding machine so that they range into the spaces between each other to shear paper passing between them into narrow strips. A stripper is fitted to each shaft between each pair of adjacent cutting discs. This moves on its shaft at right angles to the longitudinal shaft axis and is limited to this plane. The design prevents the shredded paper from building up round the shafts between the cutting discs, so that the shredder's capacity is increased.
