Abstract

The holder is used to display a precious stone, enabling it to be inspected but without providing access. It comprises a solid shere (1) of transparent plastics the base being provided with a flat bottomed cavity (2). This has a base cap (3) screwed into it and sealed with a wax plug (10) after insurting the stone (5). A projection (6) on the inner face of the base cap has a three pronged clamp (7) for holding the stone. A bush and spring (7, 9) automatically close the clamp onto the stone to retain it. When viewed externally, the sphere acts as a lens to magnify the stone.
