Abstract
A heat exchanger plate from extruded plastic material, the plate having two parallel surfaces sepd. by longitudinal partitions, and the partitions forming channels in the direction of the forward movement of the plate leaving the extruder. The plate is cut perpendicularly at the extruder outlet so as to form a rectangular panel. A number of such panels are assembled parallel to one another with a space between each panel. One fluid passes through the channels from one end of the panel to the other. The other fluid passes between the panels at right angles to the channels. The improvement is that the panel is provided with an inlet and an outlet and with chambers, situated in the thickness of the panel, to provide for multi-pass flow. The chambers are made by omitting the longitudinal partitions between the panel surfaces for a certain distance at the ends of the panel. They extend over the whole width. The ends of the panels are closed. Optimum temp. distribution is obtd. The plastic panels have large heat transfer surfaces and the plates are partic useful in dry cooling towers.
