Abstract

Top coating emulsion contg. Al pigment, esp. for protecting bitumen-based surface coatings and/or insulation from heat and light, contains an aq. emulsion of fatty acid(s) (I) and wool grease (II) is 1:0.8-1.2 wt.% ratio, neutralised with NH3 (pref. as. aq. NH4OH soln.) and/or water-soluble amine(s) (III), >=1.5, pref. >=2.0 wt.% Al pigment (IV) >=85 wt.% water and opt. organic solvent (V). (IV) reflects light and heat. (I), (II) and NH3 or (III) blend with the bitumen, whilst (IV) is very finely distributed on the surface and allows the bitument layer to dry. Suitably, (I) is stearic acid, oleic acid and/or olein; and/or palmitic acid, technical soft mixed fatty acids, oxyparaffin and/or tall oil fatty acid, (III) is H2N(CH2CH2NH)2H, (HOCH2CH2)3N, pyridine, PhNH2, morpholine and/or HOCH2CH2NH2.
