Abstract

The grading equipment is particularly for fruit and vegetables and comprises a series of rollers on parallel spindles and arranged in an endless grille pattern. The operative run of the grille carries the items to be graded. As the rollers travel, the dimension of the calibration opening between adjacent rollers is varied. The rollers are grouped in pairs, the second one in each pivoting about the spindle of the first. The dimensions of the calibration openings are regulated by components controlling the amount of pivoting movement of each second roller in relation to the first. Selectively operated drives can be included, causing the second rollers to rotate on their axes for part of the path on which they travel.
