Abstract

The dispenser (1, 2) contains a roll of paper towel (R), or similar, on a spindle (4c). The end (R1) of the towel is pulled through a slot (2a) underneath the dispenser. As the roll rotates, it drives a roller (8). This drives a shaft (12) through a belt, the pulleys giving a reduction ratio. The shaft rotates and approaches a fixed cutter blade (11), formed on a helix. The shaft has an arm (13, 14) each end, spaced angularly and carrying a piano wire cutter (18) between them. This presses the paper against the fixed blade and a spring (28), moving over dead centre, pulls teh wire along the blade to cut the paper.
