Abstract

A carbon brush frame operates in conjunction with a slip ring with two tracks linked to the rotor windings of an electrical machine. It is used mainly on asynchronous generators for the power supply in internal combustion engines. The carbon brush frame is fixed to one of the stator flanges of the machine and has an insulated monoblock holder. One side is attached to a fixing plate and the other side has a sliding block with two cut-outs each containing a carbon brush. The end opposite to the two cut-out (112, 113) which contains the carbon brush (14) is covered by a metal strip (118). The metal strip has an extension (118a) which forms a terminal pole and extends beyond the fixing plate. The metallic terminal pole is linked to the carbon brush and covers it.
