Abstract

The novelty is the use of a foot between the casing and the bed; the foot has a large bottom surface sliding on a horizontal mating surface in the bed and a narrow top surface. The foot pref. has the shape of a truncated pyramid or cone and is located in a recess in the casing by a threaded stud, a packing piece being employed between the casing and the top surface of the foot. The packing piece is pref. made of steel (a) 0.2% C, 0.3% Si, 0.5% Mn, 13% Cr, whereas the foot is made of steel (b) 0.3-0.37% C, 0.1-0.4% Si, 0.6-0.9% Mn, 0.85-1.15% Cr, 0.15-0.3% Mo. The support is used for mounting a high pressure steam turbine which is subjected to high stresses due to expansion and contraction.
