Abstract

In the preserving industry sardines are placed manually in their boxes and then oil is used to fill the boxes. To avoid loss and pollution of excess oil, the oil is distributed through calibrated nozzles into the boxes on a production line. A Continuous belt (10) is used to convey sardine boxes (14) at a constant linear speed. Above this belt is located a transport chain (16) which carries cups (18) and which moves in the same direction at the same linear speed as the continuous belt (10). Calibrated nozzles (20) are located in the base of the cups and are chosen for the viscosity of the particular oil. Upstream of the conveyor belt is a cock (22) which permits refilling of the cups with oil.
