Abstract

Fabrication of a drilling tool with rotary cutters, of the type having three downwardly directed arms each with a journal for the refeption of a cutter, comprises (i) producing machined journals each extended by a bearing surface intended to be welded, (ii) machining a bearing surface on each arm adapted to the welding bearing surface of the journals and (iii) welding each journal to an arm via these bearing surfaces, partic. by electron bombardment. Simplifies machining without the use of complex equipment and permits the provision of greases chambers in the arms as well at the prodn. of a monobloc construction of a tool with three arms.
