Abstract
The electrical equipment insulation is designed to provide protection for the user against electric shock and is particularly applicable to motor driven appliances such as washing machines. The design is for apparatus fed from an AC supply via a current rectifying system and provides double insulation, the rectifying system itself having single insulation. The two insulated blocks are interconnected such that if a current leak to earth from the DC circuit to earth occurs the resulting current level through the interconnecting circuit is limited to some given value. The interconnecting circuitry may be purely resistive having a value greater than 10 Kohms. or capacitive, in the range 10,000 to 100,000 pf.
