Abstract

The pocket calculator design incorporates a chip with many capabilities to reduce the cost of the complete calculator. An MOS/LSI semiconductor originally used for address register work is used for cipher position orientation. The chip incorporates a direct address memory for data storage, a fixed memory for storing programme instructions, a calculator for performing computations on various data and a control arrangement for selecting the functions depending on the instructions from the fixed memory. Input/output connections are for manual key operations and for visual display. Two groups of output connections can be controlled separately and make use of static buffer registers.
