Abstract

Collet to hold milling machines cutting tools is suitable for use with either threaded or smooth ended cutters. The threaded ended cutter (4) is screwed into a conical slotted retaining piece (5) within the body (1) of the device. It is gripped by pressure applied by another conical, slotted piece (8) pressed inwards by a screwed collar (2). Relative rotation of the components is prevented by protrusions (10). Smooth ended cutters are gripped by replacing the two conical parts by one larger conical, slotted piece, with a parallel inside bore, pressed inwards by the screwed collar.
