Abstract
Electrolytic extn. of non-ferrous metals from their solns. comprising both electrolytic extn. and dissolution in electrolytic baths, is effected by passing an electric current in the opposite direction to that used for deposition, with a current density 0.5-1.5 times that used for deposition, the frequency of changeover being 1-8 times per minute and the dissoln. time 0.5-6% of the deposition time. Thepref. installation uses a rectifier supplying the current for deposition and an independent reverser unit connected in anti-parallel with the rectifier, and with a common control unit. Used e.g. for electrolytic extn. of Zn or Ni from their solns. Gives long deposition cycles with increased productivity and reduced polarisation.
